David Schleyer

David is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Elm Grove Companies. He acts as head of operations and construction for Elm Grove Companies. He oversees all development and renovation projects and is responsible for the overall design and quality of Elm Grove offerings. As a principal, he has overseen over $250,000,000 in constructions projects, including the renovation of over 300 buildings and thousands of apartment units.


In addition to multifamily construction, he has experience with projects including land subdivision and development, new home construction, commercial and residential condo conversion, commercial condo association management, fire renovations and lead hazard projects. He is expert in issues relating to lead hazard and mold.


David is an involved member of the community serving on the board of directors of Intown Manchester, VOPAR, the Manchester Masonic Foundation and The Way Home. He was recognized as the emerging leader of the year in 2010 by the NH Charitable Foundation. He is a graduate of the Leadership Manchester Program. He was selected to the Union Leader’s list of 40 under 40.




Newton Kershaw III

Newton is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Elm Grove Companies. He acts as head of acquisitions and finance for Elm Grove Companies. He is formally educated in Economics and Finance having graduated Magna Cum Laude from Syracuse University and with honors from an overseas program of study in International Finance and Banking at Oxford University. He has completed the Harvard Business School Real Estate Executive Seminar, is a graduate of the Leadership Greater Manchester Program and a participant in the 2018 class of Leadership New Hampshire. 


Newton began his career in the investment banking industry in New York City at Lehman Brothers prior to moving back to New Hampshire in 2004 to embark on his real estate investing career. 


As a principal, Newton has led the acquisition and finance of over 300 properties with a value in excess of $250,000,000.


Newton is a Corporator of Sugar River Bank, is a Board Member of the Mill Falls Montessori Charter School Foundation and is a New Hampshire Clean Tech Council Advisory Board Member. Newton is past Chairman of the Board of the Manchester Development Corporation, past Chairman of the Executive Leadership Team for the American Heart & Stroke Association, past Trustee of the Manchester Historic Association, past Board Member of the Manchester Young Professionals Network and past Finance Committee Member at The Moore Center Services, Inc., the area non-profit agency supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and acquired brain disorders.




Chris Schleyer

Chris acts as Principal and Head of Property Management at Elm Grove Companies. Chris graduated magna cum laude from Florida Atlantic University in 2000. Prior to joining Elm Grove Companies, Chris held such positions as Director of Marketing for Bainbridge Companies, Senior Leasing Manager, Corporate Trainer and Area Director for the Gatehouse Group and Director of Property Management for Cambridge Management, responsible for a portfolio of over 2000 LIHTC apartment units, and a staff of over 120. During his career, he has specialized in the branding and revitalization of distressed Market Rate and LIHTC assets. Additionally, Chris has been personally responsible for the marketing and lease-up of over a dozen brand new LIHTC apartment communities in the Southeast USA. Chris is a licensed NH and MA Real Estate Broker and a member of the National Apartment Association (NAA). Chris participated in the 2013 class of Leadership Greater Manchester and is the past Marketing Committee Chairman for the University of Florida’s Residential Property Management Advisory Committee, a member of the Manchester Board of Mayor and Alderman’s substandard housing commission, a board member of the Manchester Community Music School and a member of Governor Sununu's 2021 Housing Stability Council. Chris is designated a Certified Tax Credit Specialist and has 20 years experience in the management of LIHTC assets.




Matt Menning

Matt is a principal of Elm Grove Companies. He acts as the Director of Operations for Elm Grove Companies. His focus is Operational Excellence, including cost savings, efficiency, high quality workmanship, and excellent customer service. Matt graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering and summa cum laude from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a Masters of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering. 


Prior to joining Elm Grove Companies, Matt contributed to a variety of defense electronics programs as an engineer at BAE Systems in Nashua, NH. Matt was part of the Leadership Development Program, which included technical curriculum and leadership training, while working on software, hardware, integration and test, systems engineering, project management, and new business development.


During Matt’s career at BAE Systems, he also built a portfolio of multifamily apartments in Southern NH, utilizing Elm Grove Companies’ property management. This enabled Matt to grow his portfolio in the trusted hands of Elm Grove, while focusing on the demanding work at BAE Systems.


Matt serves on Digital Federal Credit Union’s (DCU) Board of Directors. Matt shares DCU’s vision that “All Members Achieve Their Financial Goals.





Derek S. Uhler, M.S., CMA

Derek is Director of Business Development for Elm Grove Companies. Derek is focused on growing the 3rd party management platform, and for developing strategic equity partners to fund the growth of the acquisitions and development activities of the organization. He is a proven Real Estate Professional with 20+ years of capital markets, asset management, development, and acquisitions experience with a track record of leading the platform growth of private and public real estate companies throughout the US. Derek previously has held executive positions at companies such as The Altman Companies, Caribbean Property Group and Archstone Communities. Over his career, he has sourced and negotiated equity and debt for over $2 billion of real estate transactions across the commercial real estate spectrum.


Derek earned his M.S. in Finance from the University of Colorado, and his B.A. in Business from Western Colorado University. He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
